Client Update 4.0.0.35

April 13, 2014 in Announcements, Blog, News

This last week we have released client 4.0.0.35. You should be prompted to start the update when your client starts. Please allow it!
It’s quite a change from recent versions, especially underneath.
It has been completely re-written in C# which should make it quicker and more reliable than the previous old vb versions.
It supports several new functions including an awesome cam arranger to auto arrange your webcams.
The new client also provides us an improved method of monitoring client connectivity and improved security.
Enjoy! As always if you have any feature requests or any issues, please get in touch!

Adverts

February 9, 2014 in Blog, News

We’ve had to put adverts back onto the website and the client login pages. This is just to keep a bit of funds coming in.
Since 2009 we’ve had no subscription fees and we hope to keep it this way.

The site & servers cost a lot every month to run and maintain which comes out of my own pocket. If you don’t like the adverts, please make a donation and encourage others to do the same. Even just £2 a month would really help. If enough people do this regularly we will be able to get rid of the adverts all together!

You can make a donation by clicking the following link: Donate.

Please let us know in the comments if you have any other ideas for fundraising.

Many many thanks for reading this and continuing to support Funchatcam!

We need your help!

June 21, 2013 in Announcements, Blog, News

We need your help to help the site stay open. Over the past few weeks we have noticed a significant drop in the numbers of regular chatters to the site. We are concerned by this and are curious as to the reasons. We understand that the change over to the new software has caused several issues for people with regards to lag and sound issues, but this changeover was forced upon us and as out of our control.

We would really appreciate any feedback that you can give us with regards to things that need to be addressed and things that you think need improving or changing for the better. These questions have been asked in chat but we have got little or no response. We have not received any posts or communications about any concerns. There is not much we can do if people do not speak up about things. If we do not know about an issue how can we fix it?

We’re looking to appoint a core group of members which will be the driving force behind FCC.
These people will help shape the future of our chat site and be the people who make site decisions.
This is your chance to get involved! If you’re interested in helping make FCC great and have a few hours a week spare then please let either Satchmo or Fairyfeet know. You can send a private message to either of us via our site profiles. Alternatively you can email [email protected]

Many thanks for reading and we hope to see you in chat soon!

FCC Update

May 24, 2013 in Announcements, Blog, News

Hi Guys,

As you will have noticed, currently we’re running only one chatserver as a temporary measure. Hopefully this blog post will explain why!

Back in 2010 PalTalk acquired Camfrog and its services & products.

We were unsure how this would affect the running of Funchatcam (FCC) at the time, although there didn’t seem to be any re-percussions.

As of some point last week Camfrog updated their ActiveX control (which our client uses to access the FCC chatservers) and changed it in such a way that chatters were unable to join the chat rooms.

This was totally out of our control.

The single (newer) chatserver which you see now is a temporary measure while we try and work out the best way to adjust to these activeX changes.

There may be a way to get the older servers working again, or there may not. What I can tell you is that we’re working hard to try and come to a solution that fits everyone needs.

Can I ask everyone, in the meantime, to please be patient we’re rolling through these changes and frustrations just like you! 🙂

Many, MANY thanks to those who have donated in the last few hours, this really helps. As a result of the recent donations we will be able to upgrade the server to cope with these latest changes.

If YOU would like to donate you can click the donate button on the website. Any amount however small will really help.

If you have any issues or concerns, please either come and see myself or Fairyfeet or send an email to [email protected]

Many thanks for reading this, lets stick together and continue to make FCC the best webcam community ever!

December 20, 2010 in News

Over the weekend we completed our new Google Chrome Extension.
It enables you to quickly view the current number of users in chat, and if you click on it, will open a small window to see a more detailed view. If you’re a Google Chrome users give it a try and see how you get on!
